Why we love our Healthy Omega 3 Cookies Recipe!

We love these healthy and delicious cookie! This recipe originally came from a yoga retreat center that a friend of mine attended many years ago. I”m so grateful she shared it with me because it’s one of my favorites. They’re perfect to take along on all your adventures!

Our omega cookies make a lot (about 50 cookies) so toss some in the freezer to grab when you need a quick treat!

Ingredients in our Healthy Omega 3 Cookies Recipe

• whole rolled oats
• whole wheat flour
• baking soda
• sea salt
• applesauce
• butter
• light brown sugar, coconut sugar, agave or preferred sweetener
• vanilla
• large eggs
• dark chocolate, chopped
• dried berried; cranberries, cherries and/or blueberries
• chopped walnuts
• sliced almonds
• milled flax and chia seeds

How to make our Healthy Omega 3 Cookies Recipe

  • Preheat oven 350 degrees.
  • Coat half sheet pan with cooking spray; set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl combine applesauce, melted butter, sugar or agave, eggs and vanilla; mix to combine.
  • Add flour, baking soda, and sea salt; mix until 80% incorporated.
  • Add oats in three small batches mixing between batches.
  • Do not over mix.
  • Add chocolate, cranberries, and nuts; stir to incorporate.
  • Drop cookies onto prepared pan by the tablespoon or use a large cookie scoop.
  • Bake at 350 for 12-15 min or until edges are crispy and lightly browned.
  • Store in airtight container.

Yield: 50 cookies

Ingredients

  • 7 cups whole rolled oats
  • 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon sea salt
  • 2 cups applesauce
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 2 cups light brown sugar or coconut sugar or 1 cup agave or preferred sugar replacer
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 large eggs (or 2 whole eggs and 4 egg whites, to reduce fat/cholesterol)
  • 2 cups (8 ounces) dark chocolate, chopped
  • 2 cups dried berries; any combination of cranberries, cherries and blueberries
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 2 cups sliced almonds
  • 1/4 cup milled flax seed
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven 350 degrees.

  11. Dough can be frozen for two months or last one week in the fridge.
  12. Baked cookies freeze well for up to 2 months.
  13. Makes approx 50 cookies.
  14. * if using only agave, add an additional 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  15. *Stevia can also replace the brown sugar in equal parts if desired
