College football's transfer portal remains active ahead of fall practice before the 2023 season.

With fall camp set to begin next month, college football's transfer portal continues to remain active ahead of the 2023 season. A couple of the recent player entries fall under the "most notable" label.
247Sportsupdated its transfer player rankings to reflect this newcomers, including some of the most recent — since the first week of July. College football recruiting, during the 2023 cycle, has been transfer-rich for several contenders hoping to add a couple necessary pieces to push them over the top in their quest to win a national championship.
Never before have as many quarterbacks jumped in the portal and signed elsewhere, including a couple of multiyear starters at various Power Five programs. And that wasn't the only position with big-name transfers.
One program continuing to do everything it can to transfer-infuse its roster is Colorado. First-year coach Deion Sanders promised upon his arrival his team would look entirely new after spring practice and he's made good on that bet. The Buffaloes have welcomed 51 total transfers to campus as of late July.

Here's a closer look at the most notable recent player entries in the transfer portal:
TJ Dudley, LB, Clemson
Last week, Clemson dismissed Dudley, who "was not in good standing with the program," according to Clemson247's Anna Adams. The 6-foot-1, 231-pound Dudley entered the transfer portal last Wednesday, according to 247Sports' Chris Hummer.
Clemson has ample talent at its deepest position group, and it still projects well without Dudley, but head coachDabo Swinney was pleased with the linebacker's progress earlier this spring.
"I think Dudley's a guy that's starting to show a little maturity," Swinney said April 5. "He's had a great spring ... Dudley seems like he's really bought in and can really take it to another level. He's got a really bright future ahead of him."
A four-star recruit from Montgomery (Ala.) Catholic, Dudley was the 2022 cycle's No. 37 linebacker and No. 13 player in Alabama.
Jacob Schuster, DL, Minnesota
A third-year pass rusher for the Golden Gophers, Schuster entered the transfer portal this past Friday. As a redshirt freshman during the 2022 season, Schuster played in five games and made one tackle.
Entering 2022, Schuster was on the rise as a potential impact player for Minnesota.
"There will be a lot of new blood getting snaps at defensive tackle for Brick Haley this fall, and one guy that's drawn praise behind the scenes or when talking with senior offensive linemen would be nose-tackle Jacob Schuster," GopherIllustrated's Ryan Burns wrote last March. "The only proven defensive tackle on the roster this spring is Trill Carter, and this seems like a prime time for Schuster to step in and step up this spring to place himself in a good spot for meaningful reps this fall."
A four-star recruit from Tumwater (Wash.) High, Schuster was the 2021 cycle's No. 40 defensive lineman and No. 9 player in Washington.
Chris Graves, CB, Miami
Graves was amongfour players not listed on Miami's roster graphic that appeared last week, ahead of ACC Media Days this month. He entered the transfer portal last Wednesday, as 247Sports reported.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Graves did not appear in a game during the 2022 campaign — his first season at Miami. As the 2022 cycle's No. 7 athleteand No. 18 player in Florida,he was the fourth-highest-rated recruit in Miami's 2022 recruiting class.
"Will need some time before he’s ready to take meaningful snaps at the Power 5 level, but ceiling is high," 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote in Graves' April 2021 scouting report. "Likely to find the most success in a defensive system that wants its cornerbacks to play press-man or bump coverage."
From Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot, Graves was a four-star recruit and the nation'sNo. 125 overall prospect.
Nigel Glover, SAF, Northwestern
The highly-touted incoming freshman linebacker entered the transfer portal last Wednesday, becoming the first casualty for the Wildcats after Pat Fitzgerald's firing at Northwestern. Afour-star recruitfrom Clayton (Ohio) Northmont, Gloverwas the nation's No. 25 linebacker and No. 7 player in the Buckeye State for the 2023 class. Glover originally committed to the Wildcats over offers fromIowa, Rutgers, Purdue, Washington, Indiana, Duke, Pittsburgh, Boston College, West Virginia, Kentucky, Minnesota and Vanderbilt, among others.
"I love everything about it," Glover told 247Sports director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong last April. "Northwestern is the perfect fit for me. A few of the many things that made me know I wanted to be a Wildcat was the coaches, the people, the stability, Big Ten championship football, the development, accountability, the relationships I built with my class, the class above me, the current players, staff and coaches. Northwestern also has the best academics with great life after football programs."
Justin Cryer, LB, Northwestern
Cryer entered the transfer portal last Wednesday, as Hummer reported. Less than a week later, Florida State landed the 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker Monday.
"The very, very first school to hit me up was Florida State,"Cryer told Noles247's Zach Blostein. "It just kind of speaks to how highly they think of me — obviously being the first school to give me a scholarship offer. It just felt like they just really wanted me. I heard from Purdue and a couple of other schools from around the country. But once I got that phone call, I felt like I knew where my heart was set on going."
A three-star recruit from Brookshire (Texas) Royal, Cryer was the 2023 cycle's No. 125 linebacker and No. 246 player in the Lone Star State.
Elijah Bean, WR, Baylor
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Bean entered the transfer portalJuly 6, as BearsIllustrated reported. He originally took his talents to Baylor as the nation's No. 55 wide receiver and No. 56 player in Texas for the 2021 cycle.
Before Bean did not pan out with the Bears, the three-star recruit from Houston Summer Creek was among 247Sports' 100 true freshmen to watch entering 2021.
"The Humble, Texas, native has clocked an 11.05-second personal record in the 100-meter dash and he shows an impressive ability to high-point the football with his leaping ability and length," Hummer wrote in May 2021. "Bean is not yet an advanced route runner, but he's the type of presence who can be an immediate vertical threat for the Bears' offense. That’s needed. No Baylor receiver that caught at least five passes last season averaged better than 12.7 yards per catch. Bean has the ability to be that guy from the jump."
Tyrek Presley, WR, Tulane
Presley, entering his fifth college football season, went into the portal this past Friday. He appeared in 12 games last season with the Green Wave and finished without a reception.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound wide receiver's only receptions came as a freshman in 2019 when he caught three passes for 55 yards (18.3 average). Presley logged 28 games from 2019-22.
A three-star recruit from Riverdale (Ga.) Charles Drew, Presley was the 2019 cycle's No. 219 wide receiver and No. 155 player in Georgia.
Jalen Kitna, QB, Florida
Kitnaentered the portal July 10.Kitna, the son of former NFL quarterback Jon Kitna, accepted a plea deal earlier this month to dismiss five felony child p*rnography charges, which were filed against him following an arrest in November.
Kitna was dismissed from the Gators' football program days after his arrest. He pleaded guilty to two counts of disorderly conduct, second-degree misdemeanors, according to the AP. A judge placed Kitna on six months' probation for each count, but didnot impose a fine or require the 20-year-old to register as a sex offender.
After redshirting in 2021, Kitna appeared in four games last season at Florida. He completed 10 of 14 passes for 181 yards and a touchdown. Kitna also carried the ball once for six yards. He made his collegiate debut in a non-conference game against Eastern Washington Oct. 2.
A three-star recruit from Burleson (Texas) High, Kitna was the 2021 cycle's No. 80 quarterback and No. 200 player in the Lone Star State.
