We are excited to announce that the US Marshal Service has approved our Walden Security Training Academy for Phase II Training. Phase II Training is a week-long course of study for Court Security Officers (CSOs) that provides academic and on-the-job training. Courses cover active shooters, vehicle inspections, x-ray detection, and more. Upon completing Phase II Training, CSOs have the expertise and training to handle all security needs at their courthouse. This new chapter for Walden Security is due to the diligent work of our Training Academy team. They spent countless hours preparing, practicing, and evaluating all aspects of their work. They are committed to the success of all participating CSOs and adhere to the highest standards through the Training Academy’s core values of professionalism, education, accountability, respect, and leadership. The Training Academy is based at Walden Security’s corporate headquarters in Chattanooga, Tennessee. A new class will begin every other week, each with twenty CSOs. #waldentrainingacademy #waldenCSOs #training #protection #security

I think in this day and age, at least every armed security officer needs this type of training, if not all security officers. A proactive approach in the potential of an incident is better than a reactive one.

Congratulations to Michael Harris, our 2023 Officer of the Year for Atlanta! Michael has worked for Walden Security for 15 years and is an Army Veteran. He served our country for 7 years, including a deployment to Desert Storm. His 15-year tenure with Walden Security is hallmarked by his empathy, professionalism and ability to handle emergencies calmly and efficiently. His natural instinct is to always support those around him, and treat others as he would want to be treated. “What I enjoy most about my job is the ability to communicate with people on a professional level that has gained their confidence and trust over the years,” explained Michael. “The relationships that have been formed at my site have been a wonderful experience and a very uplifting one. The appreciation shown by them makes it all worthwhile. I am proud to represent Walden Security, while making everyone at my site feel safe, valued and respected.”📸 Officer Harris is pictured with his family, clients and Atlanta branch staff.

Congratulations to Rick Deaton, our 2023 Officer of the Year for Chattanooga! Rick has been with Walden Security since August 2017. He retired from the Marine Corps in 1996 after 22 years of service to our country. He then worked as a Chemical Operator from 2001 to 2016. It is easy to see why Rick is an exemplary officer. His calm, professional demeanor and experience ensure he can handle any situation. He was awarded Officer of the Month in January 2023 for that. When a shooting occurred outside his building, he followed the lockdown protocols while calmly guiding tenants on what to do and where to go. During such a difficult situation, the importance of his efficient response cannot be overstated. 📸 Officer Deaton is pictured with his family and Drew Burrows, General Manager for Chattanooga.

Congratulations to Anthony Perkins, our 2023 Officer of the Year for the Memphis and Nashville regions! Anthony is an armed officer in Memphis with a combined 20 years of security experience (4 years with Walden Security) and 8 years of military service. In an incident last fall, his experience, training and courage saved lives. He was stationed at a bank, where he observed two masked individuals approach with AR-15 rifles. He yelled, “Robbery!” allowing the staff and customers to cover while he ran toward the robbers to block their entry. They began firing at Anthony, who returned fire, causing the suspects to flee. No one inside the bank was injured. Anthony’s yelling “Robbery!” gave everyone time to cover, while he relied on his extensive training and experience on how to react. “Much of my role involves communicating and helping staff and customers,” said Anthony. “Ensuring their safety is what I enjoy most about my role.”📸 Officer Perkins is pictured with his family, friends and Walden Security coworkers from the Memphis and Nashville Branches.

Earlier this week, we celebrated our officers from Woodruff, South Carolina. Their site requires an annual government audit to ensure the security of its supply chain. During the audit, the 31 officers were tested on their protocol training. Together, they scored 94.3 out of 98 on the audit, which marks a rise from a score of 90 received in 2023. Congratulations to each officer for this achievement! #settingthestandard #settingtheexample #hardwork #training #security

A car is stolen every 32 seconds in the US, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. In fact, vehicle thefts have consistently risen since 2019, and there are no signs of it slowing down. Our Charleston Branch recently awarded Officer Edward Snipes for stopping an attempted car theft. Officer Snipes responded to a car alarm and saw an individual breaking the window of a truck on the fourth floor of a parking garage. The individual fled, heading to the first floor. As they did, Officer Snipes detailed the individual's description to the police. The police found and arrested the individual. Well done, Officer Snipes. 📸 Officer Snipes (left) is pictured with RVP Ed Leitgeb (right). #waldensecurity #waldenawards #settingthestandard #employeerecognition

Congratulations to Delyndra Thomas, our 2023 Officer of the Year for Knoxville! Delyndra joined Walden Security in 2022. She was selected as Officer of the Month in January 2023 for her reliability and friendly and positive personality. Her favorite part of her job is making someone smile. In fact, when asked what challenges she faces, she said, “There really aren’t any. Keep a smile and a nice word for someone, and your day is perfect.” Delyndra is most proud of her success with Walden Security. “I have 2 daughters and 7 grandchildren and was told I was too old,” she said. "But I made it and am still standing tall. I love my job and go home each night to watch my family smile, knowing they are proud of me.”📸 Delyndra is pictured with her two daughters and granddaughter; Eddie Amabile, Operations Manager; and Shoshana Weideman, HRM.

Yesterday was a day well spent helping our community. Our corporate team had the privilege of volunteering at Foxwood Food Center in Chattanooga. Foxwood Food Center is a grocery-store-style pantry where people can find food and supplies they would otherwise not have access to. Throughout our afternoon, we assisted with sorting food, stocking shelves and assisting people while they “shopped” (no money exchanged hands—the word “shop” describes one’s ability to choose what they want). #GiveBack #CommunityService #WaldenSecurity #WaldenTeam #Chattanooga
